poetry
poetry is like a photograph done in black and
white, makes life real and sweet like
fruit that's ripe, making trite and
useless things take on light and duplicitous
or delicious meanings, the meanderings of
mights and maybes taking on solid life
like sex makes babies. anyone can
do it and it's potent every time because
for some reason when you see it,
it's heavy like iron, heady like smelling
salts and slippery like teflon, it's tough
to put the book down and join the
living, it's the gift that keeps on giving
as long as you look down.
